The inks used in the printing process assure it will not fade
for 80-100 years. It also has a UV coating applied over it for added
protection. What is a Giclee Print?
Giclee printing is a revolutionary new process to create, show and sell original works of art. Famous artists, leading galleries, world class museums, even emerging artists all use the process known as Giclee printing. It is a very high quality print with uncanny likeness to the original painting. A Giclee is a process of reproducing an original. It is not an original graphic but a high quality reproduction print. In many cases, the quality is high enough to reproduce an original in a way that many find superior to that of a serigraph. Many artists have chosen Giclee printing for that reason: They want the finest rendition possible of their originals. The Giclee prints are printed on the
highest quality archival substrates and inks, and have all the continuous
tone characteristics and color saturation of the original works of art. In
fact, when hand embellished by the artist, as so many of them are these days,
they are themselves an original work of art. A Giclee print can be printed on a variety of substrate paper or canvas, just about any kind that can wrap around a drum - from acid free papers to canvas, silks, leathers, even parchment papers. Several sizes of images can be printed at the same time on a single sheet of 34" by 46" paper. After printing a UV coating is silk screened or sprayed on the print for protection. |
